We are excited to share with you news about the introduction of Golden Tickets. This is the chance for Manjit and the Reach Academy Feltham teachers to recognise exceptional pupil endeavour in lessons. Those who receive a ticket will be entered into a prize draw.

Next week our sister school Reach Academy Hanworth Park is holding a series of events for pupils who will start Year 7 in 2026. The events are on 17th September at 10am until 11am, on 18th September at 6pm until 7.30pm and 19th September at 10am until 11am. Please let friends and families with Year 6 children in other schools know so that we can share with them all the fantastic things they do at RAHP.
Early Years - Key Stage 2
As the days begin to get a little colder and wetter please remember to send your child to school with a coat.
To our certificate winners last week for showing the Reach value of Reflect. Well done!

A warm welcome to all our new and returning nursery parents!
We are incredibly proud of how well the children have begun their exciting journey into education. They've been busy exploring our new learning areas and are already getting to grips with the rules and routines of nursery life.
Please note that from 15th September, the Nursery session timings will be as follows:
This week we've been strengthening our hands by rolling and squeezing playdough. In the role play area, we've enjoyed hosting tea parties, while the sand tray has been a hub for digging and filling. We've also been busy building roads for our cars to zoom along!
.jpg)

We've been enjoying fruit and water at the snack table. There's no need to bring water bottles to the nursery, as we're learning to drink from cups and pour water ourselves: an important step in developing independence!
Please remember to bring in your child’s wet bag with spare clothes and shoes. Do make sure all items are clearly labelled with your child’s name. Also, don’t forget to label your child’s jumpers and coats to help us keep track of everyone’s belongings.
The Reception Team is incredibly proud of how well the children have settled into their new school environment. It has been a joy to see them come in each day with smiles on their faces, ready to explore, learn and make new friends.
They have shown a fantastic attitude towards trying new things and have particularly enjoyed exploring our exciting outdoor area.
We’ve also been very impressed with how hard they are working to learn each other’s names and build new friendships. This is such an important part of starting school and we are pleased with the kindness and respect they are already showing one another.
A special mention must go to all the children for showing real courage when trying the food provided at lunchtime. New routines and unfamiliar meals can feel like a big step, and we are so proud of how they are embracing it.
Please remember that children will need to bring their PE kit to school every Wednesday in a clearly labelled PE bag.
A healthy snack is provided each day for all children, so there is no need to send a snack from home.
Please ensure that all items of your child’s uniform are clearly labelled with their name. This helps us support the children in keeping track of their belongings throughout the day.
Thank you for your continued support — we are looking forward to a wonderful year ahead!
What a brilliant start to the year it’s been! Year 1 has settled in beautifully and it’s been such a joy to see all those smiley faces back in school. We’ve been busy learning new routines, building relationships, and diving into exciting topics across the curriculum. The enthusiasm in the classroom is infectious: we’re so excited about the term ahead!
Reading books are sent home every day. Please enjoy 10 minutes of reading each day with your child and record it in their reading record.
This daily habit helps build confidence, fluency, and a lifelong love of stories! Reading books will be changed every Friday!

We’ve been learning the story of 'The Tiger Who Came To Tea', in our writing lessons, learning all about capital letters and full stops.
This will build on their foundations from Reception and help to build coherence in their story writing.
In Maths this week, the children have been developing their early number sense through subitising, which is the ability to recognise quantities instantly without counting.
The children have been enjoying exploring this using dots and ten frames. This foundational skill supports fluency in number bonds and lays the groundwork for future calculation strategies.
Our classroom turned into a hive of activity this week as the children mastered the art of Bee-Bot programming during their computing lesson. They took great delight in watching their tiny robots follow the algorithms they’d created as you can see.

Ash Class: Monday and Wednesday
Camelia Class: Tuesday and Thursday
If you have any questions please email the Year 1 team: Jacky, Dawn, Genna and Issey.
It has been a delight to welcome Pine and Cherry Class to the new academic year. On our first Thursday and Friday together, we spent time practising routines and getting back into the flow of a full school day. The children have shown great courage and endeavour as they settled back into learning.
✨ Top tips for a smooth start:
This week we launched Phonics and Book Club.

In Book Club, we are reading 'The Tunnel' by Anthony Browne.
This story follows a brother and sister who are very different but must work together after a mysterious tunnel leads them into an extraordinary adventure.
📚 At story time, children have also been learning the difference between fiction and non-fiction:
In writing lessons, we are starting with a non-fiction unit. The children will be learning how to write their own non-chronological report about Pirates!
Here are some fun facts you could share at home:
In Week 2, homework has focused on children completing their reading records at home.
Reading is one of the most fundamental parts of learning, helping children develop vocabulary, comprehension, imagination, and confidence.
Please ensure you are signing your child’s reading record every day when you read together at home. Include:
Your support makes a huge difference to their progress!
On Wednesday 1st October we will be holding our Get to Know You Event at 2.30pm until 3.20pm. This will be a lovely chance to meet, chat, and share some food together.
For our shared “tea time”, we kindly ask that families bring baked goods only (cakes, biscuits, muffins, etc.) to contribute to the table.
We look forward to seeing many of you there!
It has been a wonderful start to Year 3!
The team has adapted so well to being in Phase 2 and are working so hard. Kajal, Rachel, Sandeep and Amrit are so proud of everything the team has achieved so far and cannot wait for the year ahead. The children are looking incredibly smart in their new uniform and they have been endeavouring to learn all the Reach routines to ensure we make the most out of our learning time and have calm and purposeful transitions throughout the building.
The children have been introduced to 'The Magic Paintbrush' by Julia Donaldson. They have been broadening their vocabulary and learning how to punctuate direct speech. We cannot wait to see the children’s finished pieces of writing!
We have started our first unit which is on developing the children’s number sense (how numbers are composed and decomposed and how they relate to one another) and improving their calculation strategies, e.g. using mental strategies to calculate. For example, to do 15-7 I can do 15- 5 = 10 then take away 2 more to get 8.
Please can you support us in making sure the children know their 2, 3, 4, 5, 10 and 11 times tables? This is something you can practise with the children at home so that doesn't become a barrier for your child in school. We are more than happy to discuss ways you can do this, so please come speak to us.
We have started our unit on practical skills and last week the children learnt the six key features of a scientific diagram! They learned the difference between a diagram (which is simple, clear and always labelled) versus an illustration (which has meticulous details and is very artistic). Here are some examples:

This term, the children are starting the year with Religious Studies, which comes under the umbrella of humanities. Children have begun looking at Christianity.
Children have started to understand who Jesus was and his birth, life and death. In accordance with one of our British values, children have been very mindful and respective of all different religions, faiths and cultures.
Excitingly, in every lesson we always look for our Star Theologian who would have used one or more of the following skills:
|
I can compare the similarities and differences between beliefs of different religions. |
I can summarise the main beliefs of a religion. |
|
I can share my understanding of my religion or beliefs in a respectful way. |
I can evaluate the impact religious practices have on society. |
We are so proud of Wisteria and Oak class so far and we KNOW that our children are going to thrive this year with the continuous support of their teachers and you!
We have had such an exciting start to our time together in Year 4 and have been super impressed with the hard work and positive attitudes of all of our team mates!
Over the last week we have spent lots of time practising our new routines and ensuring that we are ready for a successful term of learning. Please see a brief overview of what we are learning in our core subjects this term.
In maths, we are focussing on place value. This is an important skill that we will be using frequently in lessons this year and will help to further develop the maths skills that we learnt in Year 3.
To challenge your child at home, you can give them different numbers and ask them to identify which numbers are in the ones, tens, hundreds and thousands columns.
We are basing our writing around a book called ‘The Journey’. It follows the story of a girl who goes to magical places with a crayon and escapes various tricky situations along the way.
Writing at Home
To consolidate your child's writing progress, you can practice writing a sentence a day, focusing on one of the following grammar targets:

This term, we are reading the book ‘Charlotte’s Web.’ We have started to explore the main characters in the book and have discussed what we think could happen to these characters throughout.
Reading at Home
To support reading lessons, it is vital that your child is reading for 10 minutes at home everyday. They should be writing a new definition or about the story in their reading log afterwards.
We are looking forward to the year ahead! If you have any questions please email: jason.free@reachacademy.org.uk or alex.campbell@reachacademy.org.uk.
What an amazing start we’ve had to Year 5!
We have seen such an enthusiastic start to year 5 from all of our students and a really positive commitment to learning.

We have started reading ‘Oh Freedom!’ by Francesco D’Adamo. This links brilliantly with our new history unit: the Transatlantic Slave Trade. We have shown high levels of endeavour in both classrooms which has allowed us to have in-depth conversations around these topics.
We have started building on our knowledge of place value, all the way up to 6 digit numbers. If you would like to challenge your child at home, ask them to explain the difference between a digit and a number!
We have started our first narrative unit based on the book ‘Zoo’ by Anthony Browne. We will be working on using fronted adverbials, relative clauses, expanded noun phrases, and subordinating conjunctions.
To support your child’s writing at home, please ensure they read for 15 minutes every evening and then sign their reading record.
Here is an example of an exceptional reading record entry from Shaurya.

We are so excited for the year ahead and can’t wait to see the progress Year 5 will make!
Our incredible Year 6 students have made a brilliant start to life in Phase 3!
They have returned from their summer holidays ready and eager to learn, having shown great endeavour in every single lesson so far. We spent some time in week 1 practising our routines to ensure that learning time is maximised throughout the year and our pupils have risen to the occasion.
We have been very impressed with how mature they have all behaved and we are sure of a fantastic year ahead with them.

We have begun our new story of ‘Letters From the Lighthouse’ by Emma Carroll, which is set in Britain at the height of the Blitz during World War 2.
World War 2 and its social impact is the topic of our Humanities lessons this term.
We are studying 6 and 7 digit numbers, looking at their place value and using this knowledge to compare, order and round.
In Writing, we have analysed the key features of a recount so that we can include them in our own work.
We will be doing a variety of exercises to build up our natural fitness, as well as learning how to play basketball by effectively moving our bodies and shielding the ball away from the attacker.
Tuesdays: Esk
Thursdays: Medway
On these days, children should come into school wearing their PE kit. They do not need to bring their normal uniform in as they will not be required to get changed after their PE lesson.
Please ensure that your child is not wearing any jewellery.
In regards to homework, please ensure your child signs their reading record every single day. They need to write the number of pages they have read, and in the comments section, write an interesting word with a short definition. Alternatively, they should summarise what they read.
Moving forward, we will be setting daily homework on Google Classroom. Please ensure that your child joins the Year 6 group so that they can access the resources they require. Links are as follows:
Key stage 3 & 4
Year 7 have made a fantastic start to the year and have been working with endeavour on their shading and hatching skills. They used fine-liner to show the cross-hatching gradation scale, a skill they will develop over this first cycle as they create their own Vanitas-inspired still life drawings.

Year 8 have made a fantastic start to Year 8 and I have been really impressed with their hard work and routines both in class and around the school. So many of their teachers have noted how enjoyable it has been to teach Year 8 so far this year, which is fantastic.
To help streamline homework, a new timetable has been created and uploaded to the Year 8 Google Classroom. This will be really useful to support your child to organise themselves and make sure they know what and when homework is due.
In Science this cycle, students are learning about electricity and magnetism. These key concepts build the foundational knowledge for GCSEs and help them to understand that atoms make up everything!
See this snapshot from Saher’s book, with her detailed drawing of how atoms can gain or lose electrons to become ions.

Year 8 have started their art lessons with outstanding endeavour. They have been applying mark-making techniques to draw insects focussing on symmetry and contrast between transparent and solid texture.
After producing black and white mark making bugs inspired by Rosalind Monks, they then drew some beautiful dragonflies using stippling in both warm and cool tones, plus black and white, to define the elegant form and the delicate wings.

The Year 10 team is so excited to start their GCSE journey with this wonderful cohort of students. Year 10 has kicked off the year with a calm, positive and productive start (read some shout outs below!).
It is very clear to see that every student is determined to be the best versions of themselves, so that they can achieve the grades and ensure that they can go on to live a life of choice and opportunity. Look at some of their work over the past two weeks below.

Please continue to ensure that your child is coming to school on time, with the correct uniform and equipment and staying organised.
Our focus in Year 10 this cycle is organisation. Every student has a planner that they should use to log homework and important dates and deadlines. Please can you check your child's planner weekly to ensure students are accountable and so you can keep track of your child’s progress.
They will receive their first payslip at the end of this week. Please read this and keep track of your child's behaviour including merits, demerits, Step 1 & 2, HWCU and automatic detentions and sign both the planner and the payslip every weekend.

Welcome to a brand-new academic year at Feltham College Sixth Form! We hope you and your families had a restful and enjoyable summer break.
We are extremely proud to celebrate the achievements of last year’s Year 13 students. Their results were outstanding, with 44% of grades awarded at A–A or D/D**. An impressive 48% have secured places at Russell Group universities, and 94% are attending top third universities.
These successes are a testament to their hard work, resilience and ambition, and to the unwavering support of their families and teachers.
We are delighted to welcome our new Year 12 students, who have already made a positive start to their studies and are settling well into sixth form life.
We warmly invite all Year 12 parents and carers to our “Getting to Know You” event at 4.30pm on Thursday 18th September.
This will be a great opportunity to meet the sixth form team, hear more about the year ahead, and strengthen the partnership between home and college. Further, detailed information for Year 12 families will be shared this Friday, so please do keep an eye out for that communication.
For our Year 13 students, it has been fantastic to see them return with real drive and determination. They are already showing great endeavour both in and beyond the classroom. This week we will be reconnecting with their UCAS vision and supporting them as they refine their personal statements.
We are also very proud to share that, over the summer, our sixth form space has been transformed. The new environment is already inspiring our students and providing them with an excellent space to learn, collaborate, and grow.
We look forward to working with you all in the months ahead to ensure our students achieve and thrive.
Please also find below the November timetable for anyone who is retaking GCSEs.
