We are excited to share that work on the next phase of building our brand new school has started this January and great progress has already been made.
Our construction company is first carrying out demolition of the existing buildings on the site adjacent to Reach Academy Feltham, so that ground work can be completed, before the building of the new structures takes place.
We thought we would share with you some of the photos given to us by Bowmer and Kirkland so you can see how things are progressing. Although we have to be patient and wait for everything to be carried out methodically and safely, it is very exciting to see how things are developing at the new Reach Academy Hanworth Park site!

Early Years - Key Stage 2
This half term in the Early Years Foundation Stage, we have been learning about the role of scientists in our Understanding the World lessons, as part of our “People Who Help Us” theme.
In Literacy this week, the children have been diving into the story 'The 100 Decker Bus' and having lots of fun improvising it with their own imaginative ideas. They created brand new characters and chose exciting destinations for where their bus might travel next!
During Busy Learning, the children have been practising writing CVC words and drawing their own ideas to help develop their very own stories.
This learning has continued through play, with children enthusiastically recreating the story in the role play area and the outdoor construction area, taking on different roles and inventing new places to visit. It has been wonderful to see their creativity, storytelling and teamwork flourish through play-based learning.

We have been using the story 'The 100 Decker Bus' to help us explore subtraction as taking away. The children acted out the story by all getting on the bus and then some got off at different stops. They loved counting how many people were left on the bus each time, helping them to develop their understanding of subtraction in a fun, practical and memorable way.
We are excited for our Introduction to STEM family event which we are holding on Tuesday 3rd March from 2.20pm - 3.30pm in the RAF main hall. This is the accumulation of our topic on People Who Help Us.
Throughout the term we have explored different jobs including bus drivers, engineers and doctors. There will be lots of fun stands to explore different jobs. We look forward to seeing you there!
We’ve had another busy and positive couple of weeks in Year 1 and we wanted to share a snapshot of what learning has looked like across the curriculum.
Thank you so much for reading with your child every day. We really appreciate the time you take to read together and for writing comments in the reading record. These comments help us spot any misconceptions quickly, so we can support and fix them in school. When reading at home, it can be helpful to encourage children to think about what they are reading. You might like to try asking some simple “I wonder…” questions, such as:
Your children have been deepening their understanding of addition and subtraction within 20. This learning builds on facts they already know, and helps them become more confident and flexible when working with numbers. Children have been learning to:
Below, you’ll see examples of the talk tasks children use to add and subtract by making 10 first, then adding or subtracting what is left. You might like to try this at home by saying the steps together.
We will be exploring different addition and subtraction strategies and thinking about how to model, explain and choose the most efficient way to solve a calculation.
You might like to support at home by practising number bonds to 10 (1+9, 2+8, 3+7 etc) and talking through how to solve simple addition or subtraction problems (e.g. “How did you work that out?”)

The children are continuing to work with the story 'The Dinosaur Who Lost His Roar'. They have been learning the story by heart and applying their phonics, punctuation and grammar skills to write independently. Children have been:
Next, children will begin to innovate the story. This means they will be creating their own version by changing the characters and parts of the plot while keeping the story structure the same.
To encourage children with using the conjunction ‘and’ you could then give them two simple sentences and ask them to turn them into one sentence using the coordinating conjunction and. See examples below.

The children have been learning that history is the study of the past, focusing on how transport has changed over time. They have learned about:
This learning has continued into Learning Explorers, where children have explored these ideas through play and creativity. We’ve seen children designing and building different modes of transport, creating hot air balloons and vehicles using junk modelling, building and discussing transport in the construction area and more! We’ve loved seeing their curiosity and creativity. Enjoy some photos below.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support, it really does make a difference.
The pupils are participating in a poem writing competition initiated by Young Writer’s. They are given an opportunity to imagine a better world!
What do our pupils dream of?
✨ Performing on a stage
🌱 A kinder, greener world
✈️ Exploring new places
😄 Fewer worries
🎥 Following their passion
I Have A Dream invites them to write a poem inspired by hope, ambition and imagination. Their dream might be personal or world-wide, realistic or nearly impossible. What matters is they have the opportunity to think positively and creatively. It’s a joyful way to encourage reflection, optimism and self-belief through poetry.
Pupils can develop vocabulary, poetic techniques and composition skills while exploring themes such as aspiration, identity, social responsibility and personal growth. The competition also links easily to English, PSHE and wider curriculum topics.
With no limits on style or theme, they are free to express themselves in a way that suits them, creating original work that reflects their own voice and outlook. There are also exciting prizes to motivate writers further.
Please hand all entries in to Starlyn by 2nd February.
A classroom full of motivated, confident writers, thinking positively about the future? That’s a dream well within reach.

This week Year 7 has been continuing their work on powers, roots and primes. They have been applying their knowledge of powers and exponents to index laws and problems involving area and volume. Pupils have now worked on using their knowledge of prime numbers to decompose numbers into the product of their prime factors. Below is a fantastic example of this work from Haniyah (Aconcagua)

Congratulations to the following pupils who achieved 100% on their practice quiz this week!

Congratulations also to Durkhanai who this week received the subject scholar postcard for maths. Over the past weeks Durkhanai has been working incredibly hard in maths and during intervention sessions. Durkhanai’s confidence has increased massively and it is so great to see her hard work paying off. Keep up the great work!
Pupils have now finished their chemistry topics for this year, and we are moving onto biology. The first topic is “Cells and Organisation” and they will be looking in detail at different types of cells, their parts and functions, how to observe cells and will link back to diffusion from our first chemistry topic.
Our pupils have all been given their new biology LASACAWAC for the week, please support them with quizzing. The LASACAWAC knowledge is really helping support them to achieve their full potential.
A huge well done to those who achieved 90% or more in their end of topic assessment for chemistry. There has been a huge improvement in the number of pupils achieving EXS and GDS. We had 8% achieve EXS or GDS. The following pupils got 90% or more: Panavdeep, Nirvan, Haniyah, Alexandar, Violet, Kabir, Kerri, Leon, Matilda, Naisha, Hafsa, Jasmin, Deeksha, Sanaya, Nikita, Raj, Rafi, Shayan A, Holly. Well done!
We have had our first fixtures against Reach Academy Feltham in netball and football, which has been really exciting. The girls managed a fantastic 11-7 win over the RAF girls. With Hannah and Millie working so well together as shooters, our MVP’s. The boys played a great game of football, narrowly losing 6-4.

Our Year 7 boys football team had their second match against Heathlands school on Tuesday and played some great football. They lost 3-1, but we will get the next one! Well done to our keeper Jath for some amazing saves throughout the game and Yousef who scored our goal! Both well deserved man of the matches!

Over the last few weeks, our Year 7’s have been working so hard on their gymnastics routines. During our interform competition, we had some guest judges from RAF, who were so impressed with the effort and confidence of some of our Year 7 girls. Congratulations to Elbrus who were the gymnastics winners!

We will be moving onto football shortly, please make sure your child has appropriate layers to wear for our outside lessons. Please see this letter about warm weather wear and thank you for your help with this.
We invite all of Year 8 to write a poem for the Young Writers poetry competition. The poem should be on the theme of Winter Wonderland. Poems can be written or typed, and there is no line or word limit, just let creativity and expression flow! There are lots of fantastic prizes available, and the winner will have their poem published in an anthology.
Visit this link for ideas!
Entries should be handed to Lily next week.
Year 8 pupils are really enjoying 'The Hound of the Baskervilles' by Sherlock Holmes which they are reading in English lessons. Alongside this, the pupils are also enjoying reading a modern novel, 'Girl, Missing'.
Both these texts have inspired an interest in mystery and detective fiction generally. Please see below my top recommendations for Year 8 in this genre. These books are all available in our library or Feltham library.

This week in science year 8 have finished off their first biology topic of the year and have sat an end of topic test. We are super excited to mark them and see what they have learnt!
Next week we will begin out new biology topic on inheritance and evolution where students will learn all about DNA, genes, adaptations and the theory of evolution.
Finally, a huge shout out to our top XP on SPARX for each form:
Everest: Suraiya. Daniel, Nahom
Kilimanjaro: Shahzeb, Maher, Jiya
Matterhorn: Ayran, Zain, Aiza
This week we finished off our percentages unit by learning how to find the original amount after an amount has been increased or decreased by a percentage. We have now started our ‘Angles and Shapes’ unit and have recapped all types of 2D shape from KS2 and learnt more about the properties of different quadrilaterals.
We have learnt more angles rules relating to triangles and quadrilaterals and have also formed and solved equations in these contexts. We will continue our ‘Angles and Shapes’ unit by learning how to find the area of parallelograms and trapeziums and working backwards to find missing lengths when given the area.
Congratulations to the pupils who achieved 100% on their weekly quiz in Maths this week:

Year 8 has been amazing recently, all classes have been working so hard on their gymnastics routines.
During our interform competition, all pupils put in so much hard work, congratulations to Kilimanjaro who took home the trophy.

On Friday, Year 8 have their first netball and football fixture against Reach Academy Feltham this year. I am sure you’ll join me in wishing them good luck!
We will be moving onto football next week, please ensure your child has appropriate layers for this, as we will be outside. Please read this letter about cold weather wear for PE.

Roblox can be a creative and enjoyable space, but because games and social spaces are created by users, children’s experiences can vary widely. Many children start playing in primary school, often sharing games and conversations with much older users. Settings help, but they work best when combined with regular
conversations and adult interest.

Domestic abuse, whether towards a female or male partner, can significantly affect the children who live in that environment. Exposure to violence, coercion or ongoing emotional manipulation disrupts a child’s sense of safety and can influence their behaviour, relationships and engagement in learning.
These situations are often hard to spot. Many victims work to hide what is happening, particularly from official agencies, due to fear of consequences for the abusive partner or worries about major upheaval for the family.
Hestia is a London-based charity that supports adults and children in crisis, delivering frontline services and campaigning nationally on issues such as domestic abuse, modern slavery and mental health. They have created the Bright Sky app, a free and discreet tool that helps people recognise signs of abuse, access specialist support and record concerns safely.
The Bright Sky app provides:
