Our afternoon festival was an exciting mix of entertainment, exciting activities, and a smorgasbord of foods for our families, students and team.
Highlights included songs performed by our Primary students, featuring 'Wonderful World' by Louis Armstrong and 'Happy' by Pharrell Williams, alongside show-stopping numbers from our latest Reach's Got Talent showcase. The event also featured an array of booths, lovingly prepared by our dedicated staff, PTA, and special guests, offering everything from handmade jewelry and crafts to fresh flowers and face painting. There were countless chances to win prizes, not to mention the very popular 'Splat the Teacher' and 'Beat the Goalie' challenges!
The food was vast and varied, from curries and pizzas to chocolate fountains and ice creams - much needed in the 25 degree heat! Our Year 10 students also curated a tasty cheeseboard, while Year 6 class hosted a bake sale, with proceeds supporting important causes, combatting homelessness, racism, and food poverty.
Here are some pictures from the event:

Wow! What an incredible year Nursery has had. We have been reflecting on all we have learnt and achieved and especially completing all our big goals: Making bread rolls, visiting Costa, planting sunflower seeds, building dens, making jam, visiting Tesco and making watches and these are only a few of the incredible things we have achieved. We are super proud of ourselves and know that our next educational adventures will be so successful.
We are so proud of the Seedlings who are graduating and becoming Saplings next year. We look forward to having them back in Nursery in September!
We hope everyone has a great Summer and thank you for all your support and love.

This week in Literacy we have been learning and innovating the story ‘Sharing a shell’. The children have applied their learning during busy learning by acting out the story in the tuff tray, re-writing the story and designing their own shells in the art area. The children have used new vocabulary to describe their shells, including ‘shiny’, ‘curved’ and ‘bumpy’.

The children have had some special visitors in Reception in the form of ‘Beebots’. They have come from outer space and don’t know much about Planet Earth. The children have to programme them with directions to help them find their way around the classroom. This has taught them to learn early coding skills as well as practising their logical thinking. The children have worked as a team to make them work. We will build on these skills by creating maps and paths for the Beebots to follow.
Reception had a brilliant day on their trip to Ruislip Lido. They particularly enjoyed the train ride to the beach, digging in the sand and playing on the enormous pirate ship! All of the children stayed safe by staying close to their adults and following instructions brilliantly on the day.

As we approach the end of the term, pupils have been exploring the concepts of position and time in their maths lessons. We have been focusing on O’ clock and half past. At home please ask your children to explain how we know if it is O’clock or half past.
In Writing this half term we have been creating our own narratives based on the two stories ‘The Way Back Home’ and ‘Last Stop On Market Place’. It has been inspiring to read the children’s stories as they are so creative and well written. We can’t wait for you to see your child’s work at our celebration event. We have also been focusing on ‘Proper Nouns’ in grammar. We define a proper noun as a person, place or company which always needs a capital letter.

What an amazing year it has been. The children have come on leaps and bounds, academically but also as people. They have worked incredibly hard throughout the year, showing incredible focus and determination, whilst at the same time developing the skills necessary to work with other people, showing kindness and patience to each other along the way. The children have become impressively independent and they have all been such a delight to teach. Thank you so much for coming to our Graduation event. We hope you enjoyed the show!
In Geography, we studied the different features of a city, examining case studies as to why people might choose to live in one.

In Science, we were fascinated to learn about different habitats, including desert, rainforest and urban ones. We learnt that deserts do not always have to be hot and sandy. Rather, what makes a place a desert is the lack of rainfall.

In Maths, we have been working on our 3 and 4 times tables. We have looked to memorise these through skip counting using number lines and fun songs. We have learnt how to create 4 related equations from an array, 2 multiplication and 2 division ones. To prepare them for Year 3, children have been learning how to lay out their work directly into their books.
In Art, we have finished our unit on abstract sculptures. The children showed impressive levels of skill and creativity such as using warm hands for the clay to be easier to work with and using a splash of water as glue!
In Writing, we have completed our final unit where we have enjoyed writing a non-chronological report about different habitats! The children have ensured they are writing professionally and used lots of facts which is so important when they are writing a nonfiction piece. For example, did you know scorpions don't eat every day like we do, and in drier habitats, they have been known to go without food for up to 12 months, as long as they have water!? They have mastered the use of commas in a list and expanded noun phrases and have been utilising apostrophes for contraction and possession beautifully. Overall, in Writing this year, we have been thoroughly impressed with the effort and work Y2 have made, we cannot wait for their further improvements next year!
The Year 2 Team is incredibly proud of what all of our students have accomplished this year. We wish all of our wonderful students all the best as they transition into Year 3 and Phase 2. Good luck and enjoy your Summer break!
Year 3 has had such a fantastic year! We are so extremely proud of them! We hope that they have a well deserved fun and relaxing summer!
Year 3 had a wonderful celebration event, where the children performed a poem called ‘I Asked The Little Boy That Cannot See’ and the song ‘Mamma Mia’ by Abba that they studied last term. Many children won certificates for all of their hard work, progress and 100% attendance this year, both this term and throughout the year. We are so proud of every single child!

Some Year 3 students also won the opportunity to go to Hampstead Heath because they had won the most merits across the whole year. They completed an outdoor creativity workshop where they made their own artwork and clay models and had lots of fun!
Year 3 showed so much courage for their first ever residential! We all had such a joyous time playing ultimate frisbee, having a BBQ, singing campfire songs and eating marshmallows and chocolate biscuits! We hope the children have made memories to last a lifetime! Please see some pictures of the event below.

Olivia (4 Birch)
Toby (4 Birch)
Eden (4 Beech)
Every week your child has 100% attendance is a week they get to put a raffle ticket in the tombola and be in with a chance to win tea with Tilly!
Who will it be next time?

WOW! What an amazing year it has been for Year 4 Beech and Birch. We are extremely proud of all their personal and academic progress, we will miss teaching them all very much and wish them nothing but the best of success in Year 5. We hope you all have a relaxing and wonderful summer break.
We thought we’d round the last newsletter off with some highlights from year 4.
We had the best time on the first residential to PGL. The children LOVED it and had such fun doing climbing, ziplines, fencing, survival and many many more!

We also had the most wicked time watching the west end theatre show ‘Wicked.’

Last, but not least we cannot forget our wonderful time at Westminster Abbey.

After learning all about plastic pollution in writing this term, 4 Birch took it upon themselves on the way to swimming and on the way back to collect all the rubbish they found on the floor and put them into bins. We were so proud of this and so were lots of the general public too. We collected over 30 pieces of rubbish that sadly had been left on the floor.

Congratulations to the following Phase 2 pupils who were pulled out of the golden tombola to win an afternoon tea with Tilly:
Albert (3 Rowan)
Taim (3 Rowan)
Olivia (4 Birch)
Toby (4 Birch)
Eden (4 Beech)

We have been writing a non-chronological report on the origin of species. This links to our science unit on animals and humans over time where we have been dissecting the intricate workings of evolution. Here are some examples of our beautiful writing!

We have also been completing lots of arithmetic and reasoning practice to prepare us for Year 6 Maths. You can test us on the following topics:
And even Long Division!

Fritz, the writer, spins a spine-tingling tale to cheer up Karl, the apprentice clockmaker. But rather than helping matters, the story begins to come true....
The stories of Karl, the apprentice; Dr. Kalmenius, his nefarious 'saviour'; Gretl, the brave daughter of the town innkeeper; and a young prince whose clockwork heart is in danger of winding down come together in surprising and magical ways in a story that has the relentless urgency of a ticking clock.
It’s been a fortnight of celebrations in Year 6 at Reach Academy Feltham and we have had such a wonderful time celebrating the SATs results and a year of incredibly hard work. Please enjoy the photographs from our various trips.
Year 6 pupils had an incredible time at Jamie’s Farm. Some of our pupils’ highlights were:
Aurelia: "My highlight was when we did woodchopping"
Denis: "My favourite memory was when we went farming because I liked the sheep and I liked the farm dogs Bella and Mud."
Cien: "My favourite thing was the check-ins with Katie and Jack because I got to speak to everyone and see how they were doing."
Olive: "My favourite memories were the chickens and goats because I got to pick up a chicken and it pecked me and the goats chased me like dogs."
Koshika: "I liked breaking the tiles for the arts and crafts. I also improved my survival skills in bushcraft."

On Monday 15th July, we went on a trip to the London Docklands Museum in Canary Wharf. Pupils enjoyed looking at the skyscrapers around the financial district and learned about the area’s long history of trade. We had a slightly rainy picnic by the River Thames before returning to school for our end-of-year celebration event.

This week, pupils spent their Reach pounds at our final auction of the year. Prizes were donated by the pupils’ teachers and they included vouchers, footballs, gel pens, shower gel sets, cooking sets, scented candles, magazines and more!
For their final Team Reach prize, pupils in Team Ouse and Team Cherwell went to the food technology room and made some delicious brownies. Some were enjoyed on the day; others were saved to sell at Reach Fest as part of the First Give programme.

Key stage 3 & 4
An incredible end of year for Year 7 - scroll through this section to find out about our exciting residential trip, who was invited to the Headteacher's lunch, our students who have received shout-outs, and to read a letter from your Head of Year!
Year 7 what a strong finish to your first year in Secondary!
This year has not only been about their academic learning but it has also been supporting you to develop personally as you mature into young adults. It's been an honour to see so many of you develop throughout the year with skills such as organisation, independence and achieving so many goals.
Our Reach values have been met by the year group tirelessly and by taking the role of your Head of Year, I couldn't be more proud of you.
I am very proud of each and everyone of you for all your achievements and the vibrant character that you bring to the form room. And here we are with a strong finish to the academic year - seeing how confident you have become fills me with joy.
I have no doubt that you will shine even further in year 8 and become great role models for the new year 7's as we guide you through the next academic year.
Michelle
Head of Year 7
The year 7 have embarked on their residential to Hill End in Oxford. They were greeted with a scrumptious BBQ on arrival on their first day. The weather was not on their side when first arriving however the sunshine came out and what a glorious experience it has been.
Some highlights from the trip include a survival course, campfire building and enjoying smores. Joelle earned the title Queen of the Newts after discovering so many in their natural habitat.
Mikaal showed such aspiration on his first ever trip away, having enjoyed the pond dipping and exploring through the forest.
Charlie R enjoyed sitting reading his book after putting a heap of yellow flowers in his hair and Lana was found asking her buddies if they wanted to explore and “be whimsical”.
Thank you to all the staff who attended the residential, a well earned rest this weekend!

The headteachers’ lunch invitation goes to Tyerell in Don class.
Head of Year 7, Michelle, said: “Tyerell has shown such courage and endeavour to ensure that his end of Y7 is a strong and successful finish. He faced some obstacles but has shown great determination to raise his merits and independent learning.”
Week 12 was full of celebration! We had the Reach Prize in Hanworth Park where we had a picnic with pizza and snacks and played some games. We also had the celebration assembly where many students received certificates for attainment and progress in all subjects. Leam won the masterminds quiz this cycle against Thames beating them 13 - 7!
The residential in Week 13 has been incredible and such an amazing end to Phase 3. It was warming to see the students in Y8 socialising, problem solving and working together as a team through all the activities and challenges. Thank you so much for your resilience, curiosity and engagement.

Sports Day: Tuesday 23rd July - Last day of school
INSET Day: Wednesday 24th July
Students developed their skills in teamwork, communication, creativity and problem solving by planning and carrying out one of four options: A litter pick, a community garden, a sports event for primary pupils or running a stall at Reachfest. They learnt about the value of volunteering and caring for their community.

We enjoyed a scavenger hunt, a picnic and some ice cream in the park! Students worked hard this year and deserved this reward.
Thank you as always for your support this year, students have become more mature and independent and are heading into Year 10 GCSE ready!
Students got to experience what a University looks like, and do subject taster sessions in Business and Advertising. As you can see, they took being professional very seriously! The trips were enjoyable and educational - ask your child what they think about going to University now!

Every student who took part passed the expedition, with a special shout out to the group who did it on Monday and Tuesday in the worst weather conditions Sam has ever seen for a Bronze DofE! Students showed exceptional resilience and should be very proud of their achievements.
The year is coming to a close, students and teachers are both reflecting on the assessments that have passed and planning for the direction of next year. Parents evening was a great opportunity for the children to review their efforts for the year and celebrate their success. We have also enjoyed spending time in the sun at Reach fest with Y10 pupils helping to run stalls selling cheese and throwing wet sponges at teachers! To finish the week we had our celebration assembly where the individual success of many pupils is recognised by each teachers, additionally students with the highest payslips in the year were given the opportunity to go bowling as a reward for the consistent endeavour.

We are very excited to introduce our new Student Principal, Abdul and Vice Principal, Rainya. They went through a rigorous selection process and impressed the staff, students and governors with their campaigns. They have written a short introduction below:
My name is Abdul, and I am the student Principal for Reach Academy Feltham. I am currently in Y12 and studying Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics at A level. I think student leadership is crucial to have in school because the voice of the students needs to be heard at all costs. Students need to be able to learn and thrive in their academics in an environment that they think they are a part of and can have a say in how it operates. In my free time, I like to play football and go to the gym. After Sixth form, I want to apply to university and do medicine, where I can help people and improve their lives. Some of the things that I want to improve are the sports facilities and some of the school lunches.
My name is Raniya and I am the Vice Student Principal for Reach. I currently do Mathematics, Economics and Psychology. As Vice President, my main aim is to listen to the students of Reach and understand more about what they think would make the school a better place for them. Their intake is important as they make up the school, and doing this for them and building a student voice would show better change. Outside of school, I am currently starting my internship at Citibank across the summer, and after Reach I plan on going to university and pursuing a degree in Finance or Economics. Hopefully next year, I plan to implement a change for the school using everyone’s ideas to make the school more fun and enjoyable.
Over half of our Year 12 pupils are out this week on internships secured through our partnership with Career Ready. Pupils have secured paid work experience with some of the country’s top employers, including:CitiBank, BP, BSI Group, PA Consulting, CBRE and Cushman & Wakefield!
On Thursday, Year 12 visited Kings College London, Strand Campus. We had a tour of the campus and a talk from student ambassadors. As predicted grades are in, pupils are starting to think hard about their future and which universities to apply for.
