Remember:
We had an amazing time on our 23/24 PE trip to Twickenham Stadium. A few weeks ago, 30 students from Y3-Y12 got to tour around 80,000 seater stadium and follow in the footsteps of some of rugby’s greatest players.
We saw the famous Twickenham gates, the changing rooms, media centre and got to run out of the tunnel and stand pitchside at the national rugby stadium. We then attended the World Rugby Museum where we tested our rugby ability in some interactive games and saw the famous William Webb-Ellis Rugby World Cup trophy. After that, we went to a local park and played some of our own rugby games.

The trip was amazing and we can’t wait to tour another famous stadium next year!
Early Years - Key Stage 2

Excitingly, on Friday 7th July we had the finals of Reach’s Got Talent. We had over 140 children audition for the talent show and we want to say a huge congratulations to every single pupil that entered. They all showed so much courage and endeavour! The children thoroughly enjoyed the finals on Friday and were amazed by the talent that is evident within Reach.
A very big congratulations goes to all of our finalists who performed in front of over 400 people.
Here were our finalists:
Then, a very big well done to our WINNERS:
1st place: Dorcas, Pele and Cien - Year 6
2nd place: Zain - Year 1
3rd place: Khadija.D, Khadija.H, Maryam, Rosina, Rian, Aliza.H - Year 3
In the last week of term, Nursery children and parents took part in an art celebration event. It was lovely to see so many parents supporting their children to listen to instructions and create a beautiful field of flowers. The Seedlings created some wonderful art by using different objects to paint with, for example sponges, fruit, brushes and toy cars.

We have also been exploring the new playdough making station. We are using pictorial instructions to use the right quantity of ingredients and learning how much water to use through trial and error to ensure the playdough is not too dry or sticky.

This term, we are learning all about transport. Learning about transport will help to expand children's awareness of the world outside their homes and nursery. This continuously growing awareness will serve them well as they begin to interact with new people and visit different places. We created a train outside by using crates and a wheel. “All aboard the Nursery train!”
Reminder - please remember to sign consent form for your child’s trip and donate £1.
Thank you.

Rainbow Fish
In Literacy, we have started a new book called The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister. We learnt the story by drawing a story map and stepping out the story with actions. We created a Rainbow Fish tuff tray so that the children could independently retell the story with their peers. We are currently innovating the story and thinking about which new ocean creature the Rainbow Fish could meet on his journey. You can ask your child to retell the story of The Rainbow Fish to you at home.

In Maths, we are developing our knowledge of number bonds to 5 and to 10. The children have been successful at creating the numbers 5 and 10 in different ways using items that they have found in provision. The children have been working hard to do this with their talk partners during their maths session and taking it in turn to learn their number bonds.

The children have shown great courage and confidence with their big goal and have presented their ‘all about me’ box to the class. They have spoken about what makes them unique, their hobbies and interests and how they have changed over time. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all parents/carers for your support with helping your child create their box.

We had an amazing time on our trip to the Natural History Museum last week. We all took part in an incredible Super Stegosaurus workshop and also got to explore the dinosaur section of the museum.
In the Super Stegosaurus workshop, we learned about the oldest Stegosaurus ever found, who was called Sophie. She was alive over 130 million years ago and she had a long tail and plates on her back to protect her from predators. We became palaeontologists and pieced together some of her fossils to create our very own Sophie. We also got to learn about what the earth looked like during this time and each class got a Super Stegosaurus certificate.

We also got to explore the dinosaur exhibition in the museum. We saw lots of different dinosaurs, some of which were quite scary! We learnt about how dinosaurs hunted and protected themselves and also got to touch some dinosaur horns and teeth. After that, we explored the main part of the museum where there was a skeleton of a blue whale which was huge!
We had the best day and can’t wait to go back another time!

In Writing, we have started another non-fiction unit where children are learning how to write a formal letter. They have begun to understand the structure of letters and now know that the address goes on the top right along with the long date underneath. Children are being exposed to the difference between writing formally to show professionalism and informally. At home, you can show them some letters so they can see one in person!
In Maths, we have finished the unit on 3-digit numbers. During this unit, we explored representing numbers using dienes and pictorially, before practising partitioning them. This week, we began our unit on measures. We practised measuring temperature in Degrees Celsius using thermometers.

In Science, we are developing our understanding of all different kinds of habitats in our wonderful, wide world. Exploring micro habitats is likely to fascinate you; with all of us likely to dive straight out to the park to explore all the different organisms we can spot within these micro habitats! Oh, and who (or rather, what?) is Mrs GREN? We’re all very excited to find out!
In geography, we have begun to learn our brand new unit called ‘Villages, Towns and Cities’. We were astonished to find that there are around 8 billion people around the world currently and in 2050 the predicted global population will be about 10 billion! Another interesting fact we learned was that, in the time it took us to complete a lesson, almost 20,000 new babies would have been born across the world!

In DT, we will be using the skills developed within our science unit last term to design and create our very own healthy wrap! What are the best portions of each food group to include? There are so many different foods out there, how can we check the contents, and what do the values on the front mean? All of these are vital to consider when planning and making our wrap to make it delightfully tasty, but also healthy!
In PE, we will be focusing on developing our fundamental movements, ready for our transition into Year 3. Running, balancing, skipping, they all sound pretty easy, right? Well there’s more to it than you’d think! Athleticism and the development of fundamental movement skills are 100% certain to build on our wealth of sporting techniques to improve our performance; ready to be star athletes!
Year 3 have had a fantastic start to the term! They have been working so hard already and we can’t wait to see what they achieve.
We are so proud of all of the Year 3 pupils that auditioned for Reach’s Got Talent. They showed so much courage! Excitingly, a group of Year 3 girls got into the finals and came 3rd! The group was Khadija.D, Khadija.H, Maryam, Rosina, Aliza.H and Rian.
In computing this week, the children learnt about social media and the age restrictions for many social media apps. They were very surprised to find that the age restriction for Instagram is 13+. In DT, the children are learning how to sew a cushion and started their designs this week!

This term in maths, the children are securing their multiplication and division facts. They are learning about all of the different equations they can make from one array.
Practise at home: Please ask your child to write down all of the different equations they can derive from this array:

Mary Hoffman’s inspirational, much-loved story of overcoming obstacles is the first in a bestselling series about Grace.
Computing
This week in Year 4, the children started their new computing unit, which is all about computational thinking. Before each unit, we always do two internet safety lessons and this week the children learnt all about bots. They then got to design their own class bots and write the benefits and risks of these bots.
See some excellent, creative ideas below:

Writing
In writing, we have been learning all about plastic pollution and how it is affecting marine life. The children are writing a non-fiction newspaper report about an unknown creature washing up on British shores due to plastic pollution. They have worked so hard on their sentences and produced some amazing pieces of work that are creative and engaging. Before they start planning, they have drawn and add detail about their own unknown creature that wash up due to plastic pollution. See some excellent ones below:

This half term, we have returned to school being absolute role models. All of our teachers have been so impressed with our attitudes to learning and high levels of endeavour across all lessons. We’d like to showcase some of this fantastic work by showing off some of our books. Take a look at our work in…

A trip to Hyde Park
On Thursday 6th July, pupils enjoyed a post-SATs celebration at Hyde Park. After taking the train to Waterloo, we walked through central London, across the Jubilee Bridge, through Trafalgar Square and onto the Mall where we stopped to look at Buckingham Palace. We sat down for a snack in St. James’ Park and then continued to Hyde Park where we stopped for a picnic. Pupils enjoyed playing football and cricket and exploring the trees around the edge of the park. We also met some French exchange students who were eager to join our pupils’ game of football. After around half an hour of a tense football match which ended in a 3-3 draw, we walked back to London Waterloo and enjoyed an ice-cream before taking the train back to Feltham. As always, it was a pleasure to take the students into London and all of the Reach students represented the Academy proudly.

We are now looking forward to lots more exciting events over the next few weeks:

An audacious, darkly glittering novel set in the eerie days of civilization’s collapse—the spellbinding story of a Hollywood star, his would-be savior, and a nomadic group of actors roaming the scattered outposts of the Great Lakes region, risking everything for art and humanity.
We are incredibly proud of Y11 and all of the amazing effort they have shown throughout their GCSEs. We will be waving goodbye to the majority of the cohort on Friday following Physics Paper 2, with a small number returning for their final Further Maths paper the week after. Below are some final messages from their Form Tutors:
It has been an absolute pleasure to be Clyde's form tutor for the past 2 years. Your children have inspired me and made me laugh almost everyday. What a frontier cohort!
Love Sam.

I could not have picked a more engaging, characterful, and generally fantastic year group to be working with for my first year of teaching. It has been incredible to witness the maturity and humanity with which you have all approached the end of your GCSEs and I cannot wait to see all the fantastic grades that you have all worked so hard to achieve. Well done and good luck for everything in the future.

Teaching Eden and Clyde has been one of the greatest privileges of my career at Reach. They embody everything it is to be a Reach student and no doubt all of their hard work will pay off this summer. Most importantly, they are the best humans - all incredible in their own right. GOOD LUCK - you all have bright futures ahead of yourselves!
